Exceptional customer service shouldn’t be optional. At McDonald Uniforms, we believe it is the standard. As a third-generation, family-owned business based in Philadelphia, we’ve spent over 50 years outfitting first responders and uniformed professionals with precision, care, and respect.
Our team goes above and beyond to ensure every detail is right, every fit is exact, and every customer feels valued. When you choose McDonald Uniforms, you're not just getting quality uniforms—you’re getting a partner who puts your needs first.
Our Story: A Legacy of Service Since
McDonald Uniforms began with one man, a garage, and a deep respect for those who serve. In 1973, after retiring from his career as a U.S. Postal letter carrier, Joe McDonald, a WWII veteran, launched Joe McDonald’s Postal Uniforms from his Philadelphia home. His kitchen table became his desk, his living room and spare bedroom stored inventory, and his mission was clear: provide high-quality uniforms with personal service to the men and women of the United States Postal Service.
Joe built trust one customer at a time, driving to local post offices and supplying fellow letter carriers with the uniforms they needed to look sharp and feel confident. That commitment to craftsmanship and service became the backbone of the business—and the start of something much bigger.
By 1979, Joe’s son Dan McDonald joined the business. With Joe’s encouragement — “These are the places I go… you can go everywhere else” — Dan took on his own route and began expanding their reach and their products; now including “blue goods.”
As demand grew, the family moved the operation from the house into a detached garage, and soon after, into their first commercial space in Northeast Philadelphia. In 1985, Dan and his wife Jayne officially purchased the business, bringing fresh energy and a long-term vision to build on Joe’s legacy.
Over the decades, McDonald Uniforms steadily evolved—adding new product lines, investing in in-house tailoring and embroidery, and becoming a go-to partner for police, fire, EMS, and public safety departments across the region. In the early 2000s, the company began outfitting the Philadelphia Fire Department academy class, a tradition that continues today. In 2005, with the help of the third generation, the launch of UniformSpec.com marked a major leap toward national accessibility, which propelled the business to move into a new 10,000-square-foot facility which was needed to support its growing customer base.
Now in its third generation of family leadership, McDonald Uniforms continues to grow while staying rooted in its founding values. The next generation of McDonalds is actively involved in all aspects of the company—bringing innovation to strategic sales, marketing, technology, and customer experience.

— Chief Herron, Sharon Hill Police

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Outstanding Partner”
“McDonald
Uniforms has been an outstanding partner for the BPD. We struggled immensely
with our previous vendor for Class A uniforms with excuse after excuse for why
the uniforms were not being delivered. Mark and his team have been great to
work with and have delivered a great product at a reasonable price and very
timely.
We
are a small department with a small budget and McDonald Uniforms has worked
with us to make getting all of our officers outfitted. We have had to order
some of our Class A uniforms in ‘parts’ to fit the different budget cycles but
it has not been an issue for them at all.
They
answer calls and emails quickly and if there is a problem they fix it
immediately. They have been great to work with and we look forward to a great
relationship into the future.”
—
Chief Grunwell,
Brunswick Police Department, Frederick County, Maryland

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Unmatched
expertise.”
“McDonald Uniforms converted our entire department to a new uniform after
making the switch from [another vendor]. Their expertise in the business is
unmatched and the transition was seamless. No need is too big or too small. It
is truly one of the best decisions we have made.
I truly can't understand
why every department doesn't use them.”
